Command Pilot Training Limited may be a relatively new name in the pilot training industry, but we're no newcomers to the business. We started back in the 1980s as Atlantic Training Support, a division of the Air Atlantique group.
As a commercial operator, Air Atlantique had identified shortcomings in the training available to pilots entering the industry. The process had become something of a conveyor belt, leaving new graduate pilots without several of the skills necessary to allow them to thrive in their career.
In typical Atlantique fashion, the decision was taken that we'd improve the training of our new pilots by doing it ourselves.
The new division grew rapidly and it was soon clear that it had the capacity to train beyond the needs of its parent, and so Atlantic Training Support Ltd was born.
The primary focus of this new stand-alone company was to train the next generation of instructors and examiners, and that's still an important part of our work today. We're lucky to have names among our instructors that have achieved somewhat legendary status, allowing students to learn from the greats. That also means we're particularly strong on tailwheel training for classic aviation.
We've become the chosen cadet training organisation for several commercial operators and work closely with them to help committed trainee pilots achieve their career ambitions.
ATS has done well and built an enviable reputation as a specialist pilot and instructor training organisation. But it became clear that we could do more. We wanted to raise the standard of commercial pilot training for the wider market, to bring those vital additions that turn a qualified new pilot into a safer qualified pilot. ATS was no longer just the training support arm of Air Atlantique, the time had come for the training company itself to graduate and move into the wider world.
So in 2014 we changed the name and certifications of ATS to Command Pilot Training Limited. The traditions and commitment to excellence haven't changed, so you're still gaining the benefit of more than 25 years of experience and progress. But there's a lot that we have changed to bring you a modular programme of commercial pilot training courses that will put you ahead of the rest. We've brought in the best expertise, both from within the Air Atlantique group and from the wider marketplace; we've upgraded our fleet and put in place training facilities on both side of the Atlantic.
The result is a unique opportunity to start your commercial pilot's career with the boost of rare extras like both FAA and EASA certificates, with a jet type rating, upset recovery training and more, all included in a programme that lets you train at your own pace. And at the end of it all, our long-established partnerships in the industry put you in the COMMAND seat with a guaranteed interview with an operator who's in the market for your special skills.
